Season's Greetings from the River//Cities Paltform Foundation.
Dear Friends and Activists of River//Cities Network,
The intensive year with River//Cities is coming to an end. I would say that there not a day has passed by without a matter concerning the Platform, so I would like to thank very much all the Board for their devoted work for the R//C network.
Summarising the year - what have we achieved? First of all the Polish office has been moved from Warsaw to Zabrze being now splendidly managed by Anna Ochmann from Arteria Foundation. Warmly welcome on board Anna !
Then a new Board was elected in June, with a renewed mandate for Iwona Preis (Intercult Sweden) as a President and the following members: Magdalena Zakrzewska- Duda (BSCC Poland), Martine Meire (Ostend Municipality, Belgium), Jekaterina Lavrinec (Laimikis Lithuania), Marta Moretti (Venti di Cultura Italy), Anna Ochmann (Arteria) and Bernd Herger (SPW Austria).
The Platform also gathered several times: in Stockholm for Audience Links Exchange, further on in Vilnius, Warsaw and Gdansk for the events and meetings within the frame of Baltic Audience Links project. Please, get aquainted with an Audience Report, commissioned within the BAL project, made by prof. Jekaterina Lavrinec
All year round, we have built partnerships, worked hard with the applications and submitted them for the Creative Europe, Erasmus + and Council of the Baltic Sea States project funding.
Some of us also participated in gatherings of the European cultural sector like the Culture Action Europe conference "Beyond the Obvious" in Rome and European Culture Forum in Milan.
However, the most important part of collaborations is actions. We develop ideas, we do projects together, and we meet at conferences and workshops, thus building our capacity. Please read here a newly developed strategy document of the network. We would like to hear your comments, so please do not hesitate to contact us expressing your thoughts and wishes. All ideas are welcome!
We are counting on your feedback on our network's strategic vision for coming years! On our part we promise to continue the efforts of promoting and developing culture on waterfronts.
Last, but not least - 2018 is approaching fast so let me wish us all even more intensive cooperation next year and for each of you personally a Happy New Year.
We wish you more culture on the waterfronts in your cities and are looking forward to many new, fruitful ideas and collaborations in 2018!
the President of the River//Cities Platform Foundation's Board
