Intercult is an independent production and education unit based in Stockholm, Sweden.
We function as a hub of local, regional and international exchange. We take an active interest in national and European cultural policy. We are experienced in building partnerships, generating international funding and developing projects that reach out to the European cultural scene.
We challenge conventional structures and mechanisms that prevent people from meeting and collaborating. Our sights are set on geographic and mental borderlines where intercultural opportunities often arise. It is at the seams, which both unite and separate, where art inspires to curiosity and a re-evaluation of our worldview.
We create conditions for the exchange of ideas and models. With artistic expression as a starting point, we focus on the value of intercultural competence aimed at artists, organisers, policymakers and sponsors. We develop large-scale clusters, organise cultural policy gatherings and studies, produce artworks, arrange guest performances, distribute artists and develop audiences.
In June 2008 Intercult was given an assignment by the Swedish government to establish a European Resource Centre for Culture, based in Stockholm. We will work proactively to support and strengthen cultural projects, both with Swedish as well as foreign partners, in Sweden and abroad.
